Bolívar is a department of Colombia. Bolivar Department was named after one of the original nine states of the United States of Colombia. It is located to the north of the country, extending from the coast of the Caribbean Sea at Cartagena near the mouth of the Magdalena River, then south along the river to a border with Antioquia. Its capital is Cartagena, other important cities include Magangue and Turbaco.

Bolivar covers 10,030 square miles and much of the land consists of hot, humid forested lowlands. Much of what this department produces is livestock, sugarcane, tobacco, cotton, coffee, cereals and forested products. Rich in mineral resources which include gold, oil and coal. The main industries that employ many are in petroleum refining, textiles, and beverages. Foreign commerce is included and is centrally located in the Departmental capital of Cartegena. Transportation includes the Rio, (River), Magdalena, roads linking neighboring Departments, and of air service to all major cities in Colombia and throughout the world.

There are five major marinas in Bolivar Department being Marina de Barú, Barú, Club de Pesca de Cartagena, Cartagena, Club Nautico Cartagena, Cartagena, Marina Santa Cruz, Cartagena, Todomar Marina, Cartagena
